Welcome to the Quebec English Literacy Alliance

We help people and businesses succeed through learning.

Who we are:

The Quebec English Literacy Alliance (QELA) is a network of urban and rural literacy groups, promoting literacy training and information-sharing activities.

Our network includes: The Centre for Literacy, Quebec Literacy Working Group, Literacy Volunteers of Quebec, 11 literacy councils and 11 school boards supported by the ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport du Québec.

Bringing learning to people:

Learning takes place at all ages and not just in schools. It's never too late to learn new skills or improve existing skills.

That's where QELA comes in. Through our partners, we offer programs to help identify and upgrade the skills needed to stay competitive.

We support employers by showing how to add literacy-building techniques into their current training programs.

We help employees raise their literacy levels with one-on-one sessions or in groups.

Supporting literacy training delivers results:

For business, upgrading employee skills results in greater productivity, reduced absenteeism, improved workplace safety and increased competitiveness. Literacy and skills training is an investment in a more skilled workforce, one that can react quickly to technological changes.

For employees, a higher literacy level can mean increased self-confidence, improved performance and greater job satisfaction. It has even been shown to improve overall health!

Learning counts.

With as little as 40 hours of free literacy training, most employees can improve their literacy skills, which in turn can help impact their company's bottomline, today and in the future.
