August 2011- Brief to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance
On behalf of its members and partners, QELA submitted a brief to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance entitled “The Importance of Literacy and Essential Skill Training for the Canadian Workforce”. This brief serves to illustrate how the definition of literacy has evolved to become the foundation on which the “Nine Essential Skills” are based. Moreover, it offers recommendations on how to achieve a sustained economic recovery through a unified government-industry-workforce effort with a focus on upgrading the basics skills of our workforce.
