Literacy Program Helps to Combat Dropout Rate (Literacy Unlimited)

When you think of sportswear, literacy and academia aren’t the first things to pop into your mind. But the Oasis literacy program sponsored by Gildan Activewear is helping 38 local students score big in high school.

“Imagine spending all day doing tasks in a language you’re not comfortable with,” said Natasha Mentore, coordinator of the Oasis program at Riverdale High School in Pierrefonds. “That’s what school is like for kids who can’t read or write.” Read article from the Gazette, December 15, 2009
